" During the summer and early
Fall, Lorne and Ray met with the other members of the Nova Scotia
Condominium Act Review Committee ( formed at the request of CONS) to
discuss and review changes to the Condominium Act. We think the
changes that we had recommended, and in most part, agreed to by the
other members of the Committee will improve situations which have
caused concern to many of our members with respect to Board and
individual owners relationships. In addition, several other legal
issues such as paying rent and condo fees before a condo was
registered have also been addressed. The amended Act was introduced
in the house on 14 October. From there it will go to the Law
Amendments Committee, where it will be reviewed and proclaimed in
the early summer.
In addition to Lorne and Ray
meeting with the Condo Act review Committee, they also met with
government representatives who are dealing with the Homeowner
Protection for condo owners ( ie, the shoddy construction
problems). We are now awaiting information on when these meetings
will be resumed. "
